Inspiration

Its amazing where you can find your inspiration . . . . . . . . .

“Woman with a Red Necklace” by Amedeo Modigliani
Oil on canvas, 1918

“Setting Sun” by Egon Schiele
Oil on canvas, 1913

“Argenteuil” by Édouard Manet
Oil on canvas, 1875

“The Boss’ Daughter” by Paul Gauguin
Oil on canvas, 1886

I stumbled across this post by Miss Moss and fell in love! The art in itself is beautiful, but to then use that to make your very own wearable art is genius. Just lovely. . . . . I will take all 4 outfits please :)

Land of cows

I had never been up to Scotland, until last week when I went with some friends to the Orkney islands. Its stunning epic scenery on the LONG drive up, and then after the ferry over it turns into more rolling hills, very Jane Eyre. Although I live in London now I grew up in the countryside and I love escaping the city every now and again.  . . . . . .

There are cows EVERYWHERE, and they are really funny. They are so curious, they come and look at you for ages but if you take a step towards them they run a mile! Very cute though, with their big eyes :) I loved the cows.

Sick day with fluffy friend

So after having an awesome week in Orkney last week I have come down with a bug :( And not a very nice one either. Having been in bed for the last few days I ventured downstairs today to take up residence on the sofa, and one of the fluffier members of my family joined me to watch something epic, a bit of LOTR. . . . .

I have 2 cats as I think I mentioned in my first post, a fine looking beast called Alfie and his sister, the daft fluffy one, Indie. She is the funniest cat I think I have ever met, and quite kooky looking with her sticky out teeth and fluffy tail in a question  mark shape.
She likes to sleep in the most unladylike manner, on her back, belly in the air! I'm not sure if you can make it out of the photo that I took on my phone, but she was fully reclined with her head up by my feet and legs on my stomach, completely asleep!!!
I am sorting out my photos from orkney and will be posting them shortly when i'm feeling bit better.

What's your go to film or series when you are having a sick day?

Jewellery making class :)

Vintage Jewellery Making

There are a few spaces left on the Vintage Jewellery making class I am teaching for I Made It Myself on
Wednesday 13th July 19.00 - 21.30, and on Wednesday 22nd June 19.00 - 21.30 there is only 1 space left!!!
Please come along if you can make it and are in the area of Chiswick West London!!! Here is the website for more details! Its going to be a lot of fun!! Its a lovely relaxed contemporary class, and you get to take away your very own unique piece of jewellery that you could pass down for generations, making its own history! :)
I really just start packing now, I am heading up north tomorrow to the Orkney Islands for a week, and when I get back I can tell you stories of trekking through the wilderness and making friends with the sheep!!

Paris

Paris. . .  we had an awesome time! Our apartment we rented was right in the centre, not too far from the red light district (!) but we were so close to everything that we strolled round, most of the time in beautiful sunshine!
My Top 5:
  1. Musee D'orsay - Stunning art in a beautiful building. . . .it was fun to see all the famous paintings that you see all the time in real life!
  2. The Parks - I do appreciate a good park! Almost everyday we had picnics in the parks, they have chairs scattered everywhere perfect places to sit eat and people watch. also the bandstands and carousels have to have an honourable mention :)
  3. Amelie Cafe - I love the film so was very excited to go to the Cafe where she worked in the film, Cafe des 2 moulins. We had a tea, played picture games and pretended to be French.
  4. The passages - All around where we were staying were old shopping arcades called the passages, they were really pretty. Passage Verdeau was my favourite, especially the old children's bookshop, Tin Tin as far as your eyes could see.
  5. The hot chocolate - Honestly I have never had hot choc like it, so thick and creamy. YUM!! Makes my mouth water just to think of it!

We came home on the Eurostar on Thursday night with a bottle of wine to try and carry on the illusion we were sophisticated French people. . . .then promptly had a cup of tea when we got home. . . . some things never die!!!
