Music for Monday - Bastille

This song makes my heart feel joyful:) I keep listening to it over and over again. Not sure if its really normal how obsessed I am with it:)
Bastille are a newer  local London band with a really big sound, but I love how they can pare it down in this really beautiful version.
Hope you enjoy and Happy Monday everyone:)

Embroidered Art

Hello lovely people:) How are you all, hope you are having a splendid week:) The sun has finally come out here and I am enjoying it as much as I can before no doubt it disappears again! I just wanted to share with you some beautiful mixed media:

Both of these awesome artists manage to mix art and craft in such a beautiful way, it blows my mind a little bit to think of the possibility's:)I would really like to try something like this in the next month or so, as its too hot to knit I am searching for a summer alternative and I think embroidery might be the very thing!
Happy Thursday everyone!

Aubin and Wills

I've posted about Aubin and Wills before, for their last collection with Alex James and Irina modelling, and they really do have the best lookbook's.
They are just the right blend of clothes, relate-able models and stunning photography.
This season they feature Sophie Dahl & Andre Van Noord.

I also like the fact that although this is a summer lookbook they are still wearing jumpers and jackets!! True British Brand:)
''Inspired by the Past living in the present'' is the company Moto and I think that just about sums up my life:)

Happy Friday everyone and as one very good friend says 'Lets do the Friday dance':)

African summer

For those of you that are missing sunshine and the summer (ie.the whole of the uk!), at least we have STELLA JEAN :)

I feel in love when I first saw this Via Pinterest. The colourful African prints in beautiful modern shapes really appealed to me. Locally, in West London, we have a lot of African/Carribean fabric shops and although I am really drawn to the fabrics I am often at a loss to think what I could make that I would wear.
Well no longer will that hold me back . . . ..

Amazing oversize pleats + African print = Stella Jean s/s 2012

If you are fellow Brits how are you coping with the rain?  I have come down with a nasty cold yet again and am trying to amuse myself watching The Hollow Crown series. . . . .is anyone else enjoying it?
Happy Sunday everyone and hope you are having a great weekend:)

Featured necklace and Offer

I have decided to feature one item in my shop once a month, and its the turn of the Vintage Gold Key And Pearl Necklace

This Vintage reworked necklace is inspired by the She and Him lyrics ' Don't know how you won my heart 'Cause I'd locked it ''

This necklace is just the thing to keep your heart safe, until someone else has the same key :) It is looking for a new home and new memories. That's the thing I love the most about reworking vintage jewellery, the chance to take something old and give it a new life.

Handmade with vintage elements, including a pearl and diamanté flower that belonged to a necklace worn on a wedding day in the 50s. Lovingly put together on a fine gold chain, this necklace is perfect for special occasions such as weddings and party's.

And for this weekend only FREE SHIPPING with the Code: PINKSHIP1

I would love some of you lovely people to adopt one of my pieces so if you do please meantion it in the messages and I may even pop in a extra present for you:)

Happy Friday dance everyone!!

Madame Gres

I was reading this really interesting Vanity Fair  article the other day, all about Couture and the fear that it will die out. I find the golden age of Couture fascinating, and amongst the familiar names, Chanel and Dior, came one I had never heard of before - Madame Gres.
Originally trained as a sculptor she moved into fashion and designed beautiful fitting clothes.

'Grés' draped and pleated silk jerseys flattered the body with the minimalist and rationalist radicalism of 1930s design, but provided a classical serenity as well.
Never was a Grés garment, whether revealing or concealing, less than enchanting. The slight asymmetry of a wrap determined by one dart, the fall of a suit button to a seaming line, or the wrap of a draped dress to a torque of shaping through the torso, was an invention and an enchantment in Grés' inventive sculptural vocabulary.'' - *

As can be seen by these beautiful illustrations:

I especially love the second dress-coat, If only I could recreate such a garment:)

Hope you are all having a fun week and Happy Wednesday to all!!
