'I am so ill'. . . .as said by Mary in persuasion now said by me. I have up until this point refused to succumb to the usual winter cold but finally it has caught up with me and I am snotty, red nosed, and have a sore throat - the lot.
So today after doing some work on the computer I am treating my self to a bit of Jane Austen.
The 2007 adaptation is my favourite of Persuasion. The whole feel is emotional gray and stormy, it has a very raw quality about it that I love and that we all can relate too.
Not to mention Rupert Penry Jones as Captain Wentworth. .. . . mmmmm Captain Wentworth. Although at times I want to shout at him to stop being so proud he has a nice manly quality about him.
So really what I am trying to say is that if you havent seen it already, watch it.
The end.
Now where are my tissues.

I love this adap too... I am SUCH a Romantic!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon. I am so sick too. Oy weh. The book I'm reading right now, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" is brilliant. It's the story of Cinderella but as told through the point of view of the stepsister. Also, I came across another book at the library that you might like. It's called "The flight of Gemma Hardy." Set in Iceland and Scotland in the 1950s and 1960s and it's a modern retelling of Jane Eyre!!
ReplyDeletePS. I'm sure it goes without saying that Persuasion is my favorite JA novel and the one above is my favorite adaptation. That Rubert Penry Jones, be still my heart...
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough I sat and watched this yesterday whist battling a cold.
