Cold Comfort Farm

Cold Comfort Farm is one of my favourite books and I never realised they had adapted it into a film until recently!
I took some screen shots as I think the main character Flora dresses perfectly for this mid autumn/winter weather we are having.

I especially love her knitted hat and the last outfit, I am dying to get a 1930s/1940s style suit.
I think I want this one. . . . . .have to start saving my pennies!!!!

Why didn't they ask Evans

I feel the summer slipping away from us this week.
And again I am caught talking about the weather on this blog!!
I blame my nationality. English people cant help it, they really can't!
I realised I never shared these screen shots with you, from another Miss Marple - Why didn't they ask Evans.
The main heroine wears some delightful outfits :)

I am busy at work on the Autumn Pink Sunshine collection, and will be sharing some of my inspiration with you all later this week!
But until then happy Tuesday everyone!

Film Style - Long Hot Summer

I watched The Long Hot Summer a few weeks ago and fell in love with the way Joanne dresses!
And I thought it was appropriate this balmy hot summer eve to share these screen shots I took.

I love this black dress SO much, its just the most beautiful shape, I love the neckline, the way its tight around the waist and the length is just perfect. I don't have a LBD in my wardrobe and think I may have to fix that!

This dress is lovely too, a nice button down cotton dress, with a cute belt to clinch it in, I need to make myself a few variations of this in some cute prints for summer I think.

And just for us ladies, old blue eyes, swoon!!

Another cute cotton dress with a belt, this time with an interesting take on the sailor collar.

And finally what might be considered a shapeless blouse is made pretty by a belt and some lace gloves.

I really liked this film and it has given me some ideas for some sewing I would love to do.I am working pretty hard for the next month teaching at a summer school but cant wait to make some things when I am done!

I hope you all had a simply fab weekend in the sun!

Film Fashion - Sleeping Murder

I have been watching a LOT of Agatha Christie recently. . . .I blame Netflix.
Its the costumes that call to me most of all, they are full of beautiful 30's/40's clothes.
I would love to raid the costume wardrobe of most of them!
Some of the old 80's Miss Marples' are awesome, and where made before I was born!!!
One especially stood out, called Sleeping Murder. A story of a young bride, who when moves into a country manor, long repressed childhood memories of witnessing a murder come to the surface.
Its the outfits of the main girl that really stood out to me, plus her husband Giles. . . .what a man:)
Its my first ever attempt at screen shots so you will have to excuse the poor quality as my poor little netbook doesn't really like 80's dramas!

First up a nice blue dress. Ok so the colours aren't the most dynamic I have ever seen, but did you notice the details?? I wish every dress I owned had a scalloped neck line and sleeves!

I think this is my favourite outfit of all. A pretty white and blue summer tea dress, again with lovely details around the neck line, this time cut outs. And as I have told you all before I am a sucker for hats at the moment, and this blue one is a beauty. Plus I love how she matches her pearl necklace to her hat pin:)

A pretty white blouse with a beige mid length pencil skirt, and another lovely hat. Perfect for giving off an innocent air whilst sleuthing.

I wish I could have got some better shots of this one, but the characters keep moving!! How inconsiderate. . . this is my second favourite outfit and has made me want to get a mid length white skirt for summer. I'm not sure if you can see, but it buttons down on the right side with covered buttons. Plus the blue knit jumper with cute polka dot yoke is something I would love to try and copy, need to try and find a pattern:) It all tied together with the red accessories is a big win.

The lovely hat strikes again, this time with a nice hair do, snappy black and white pin stripe pencil suit, and handsome hubby on her arm.

For the final scene my favourite summer dress in back with a nice straw hat. You can see in the final shot a better look at the back  where there seems to be some sought of bustle over the bum area, another interesting detail.

What have you been watching recently? anything fashion inspiring?

Summer in the City, Future Cinema - Grease

Last Friday a friend (The beautiful Amberooney:) and I went to Future Cinemas Grease.

As some of you can probably remember, I went to the Bugsy Malone one a bit earlier in the year, and so was really looking forward to this extravaganza.

It was in a Schools field in south London. Between deciding whether to hang out in Frenchies house and get a vintage hair-do, or go and jive to the band (jiving won!) we managed to get round most of the activity's. I love the fact you can really pick out the people acting the characters of the film, they wonder around mingling with the crowd ,T-birds flirting with all the pretty girls and the cheer leaders showing off their skills. I would love to be part of one of their shows:)

It was a perfect sunny evening and as the sun went down everyone took to the bottom of the field when the big screen started playing the opening bars of Summer loving.
Much singing and dancing ensued:)

Honestly if you are a fellow UK dweller please try out Future Cinema. It really is a cinema experience unlike any other:)
Thank you Future Cinema . . . .Grease is the word:)

Happy Friday everyone!
